More Updates, I promise

Posted by audiomatch at 03:12 AM on November 3, 2003.

We're hoping to update this site more often. We're now using Tabulas to handle this news update page.

Since this website no longer requires me to login via SFTP, I hope to keep this site updated more and hopefully to get better feedback.

We've gotten a lot of e-mails, most which I hope I've answered helpfully.

It's pretty clear what features are necessary ... we'll be working on those soon.

But first, we must make the webpage not suck-ass. Gosh darn those CSS/XHTML standards ...

Site Updated

Posted by audiomatch at 05:28 PM on November 3, 2003.

We've updated the aesthetics of the site so it actually works in all browsers.

We've also updated a few more FAQs that I've been getting ... and we now published the location of a text file.

Each time you listen to a song, a textfile is also generated. The textfile has the artist on the first line and then the song on the second (if no IDv3 tags are on the file, then it just stores the filename on the first line).

Feel free to use this data to create your own image or whatnot on your server.

AIM profiles will return shortly; we're working on a new method of relieving stress off the database so we can bring the AIM profiles back.

By popular request, we've also limited the length of the image; filesnames longer than 36 characters are truncated to 36 characters. This is a request since a lot of people don't want to screw up webpages or forum signature with extra-long images.

Quick Note

We realize that a lot of your song names are being cut off. We will be implementing a feature shortly that lets you set your character cutoff. We've boosted the character count to 80 characters for now.

Issues regarding Internet Radio Stations

Posted by audiomatch at 04:17 PM on November 11, 2003.

Many users report to us that they cannot use AudioMatch with internet radio stations.

This is because the method in which Winamp loads up radio stations. The Audiomatch plugin becomes active anytime you change songs; to Winamp, an internet radio station is one file. Therefore Winamp will never report to the AM plugin that the song has changed, even if the radio station is changing songs, because to Winamp, the internet radio station is one file.

This is also why AM does not report songs that are played on repeat; Winamp only makes a big deal WHEN a file is changed.

Disabled

Posted by audiomatch at 02:21 AM on November 15, 2003.

Free registrations have been disabled. I'm running a bit low on funds, and I don't want to punish the performance of the existing users for the sake of new registrations.

If you can, please donate! If not, just be patient ... I'll return the free registrations soon (hopefully).

Status

I haven't been able to work on the site.

Free regs are still suspended; the existing userbase is still murdering the existing database site.

If you want an account right now, your best bet is to donate some money; we will honor almost all donations (except for assholes who donate $0.01; paypal takes the $0.01 for service fees).

Sorry for the news... but we will be back soon (hopefully?)
